The Boxing Day Festival was organized with the dual purpose of supporting single mothers in launching their own businesses and providing essential education to newcomers in Canada.

As part of the festival, six free public workshops were held, specifically designed to address the needs of immigrants adapting to life in a new country. Topics covered in these sessions included:

How newcomers can access loans and what they need to know beforehand

Addressing mental health challenges faced when adjusting to a new society

Common immigration issues that many newcomers are unaware of

Family and parenting challenges in the context of Canadian laws

Nutritional concerns and navigating unfamiliar food options

Key information to know before purchasing a home in Canada

Access to dental care for newcomers

In addition to the workshops, the festival featured a vibrant marketplace where many local businesses offered their products at discounted prices, creating a valuable opportunity for attendees to shop for their needs affordably.

The event received a warm and enthusiastic response from the community and was open to the public free of charge. Among the distinguished guests were Leah Taylor Roy, Member of Parliament for Aurora—Oak Ridges—Richmond Hill, and Godwin Chan, Deputy Mayor of Richmond Hill, who attended the event and presented certificates of appreciation to the dedicated volunteers.

The success of this festival was made possible by the heartfelt efforts of dozens of volunteers who generously contributed their time and energy.
